Straits Orient Lines (SOL) Singapore was formed in early 2000, with a vision “to be our customers’ obvious choice for total logistics solutions through innovative and reliable services”. This objective remains the same till date.
Back then we were a container feeder service company, set up to start a service between Singapore and Bangladesh for a major customer. From humble beginnings, we grew at a steady pace, introducing more services into the Indian Subcontinent and South East Asia regions.
In 2002, we purchased our own container vessels flying the Singapore flag under one of our verticals, Liberty Navigation Singapore.
During the shipping boom in 2005, we built new vessels at the Singapore Technologies Marine Shipyard. This opportunity came when the order books of shipyards worldwide were full for the next 10 years. We took the bold and timely decision to order two new container vessels, which gave us the stature to achieve our current position as one of Asia’s most prominent shipping companies.
Then in 2005, we commenced our first Container Freight Station (CFS) at Dadri in India under Transworld Terminals which has now grown to be a PAN India land side activity with a complete suite of services for the EXIM Trade.
